Report: China not reducing fossil fuel use or emissions

“Although China promised under its commitment to the Paris Agreement to ‘peak’ emissions around 2030, to decrease carbon dioxide emissions per unit of economic output and to use more green energy, China’s greenhouse gas emissions increased by 1.7% in 2017 and are projected to grow by 4.7% in 2018. With green energy an abject failure in terms of meeting China’s need for either energy or clean air, all that’s left is propaganda.”

French government proposes to eliminate 2050 CO2 emissions targets

If the bill is adopted, France would, among other things: (1) Drop its 2050 goal of lowering greenhouse gas emissions to a quarter of 1990 levels, in favor of a target of carbon neutrality by 2050; (2) Postpone a goal to reduce the share of nuclear power from 75% today to 50%, from 2025 to 2035; and (3) Walk back a commitment to reduce national energy consumption.

Illinois Gov. Pritzker Joins U.S. Climate Alliance, Becomes 18th Governor to Uphold the Paris Climate Agreement

“Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signed an executive order yesterday to join the U.S. Climate Alliance, bringing one of America’s largest coal producing states and carbon emitters into a coalition dedicated to upholding the terms of the Paris climate accord… What Pritzker intends to do to meet the emission targets called for under the Paris Agreement is less clear. Yesterday’s announcement was largely symbolic… Exelon Corp. operates six nuclear plants in the state, including two that receive state subsidies to stave off closure. The Chicago-based company said it supported Pritzker’s climate aims but did not comment on his 100 percent renewable pledge.”

Only 2 of 196 Paris climate signatories have promised to cut more CO2

Although the signatories to the Paris Agreement are supposed to revise their climate “ambitions” (i.e., CO2 cuts) upwards within the next 18 months, only the tiny Marshall Islands and Fiji have done so. We don’t call it the Paris Climate Hoax for nothing.
