Maybe it’s time for the coal industry to get onboard and defend itself.
The Midwest is right now running on 76% fossil fuels (two-thirds of that is coal) and 16% nukes. How would Ocrazio-Cortez’s Green New Deal replace 92% of today’s electricity generation?

The Paris Climate Accord is a hoax: “The Narendra Modi government has opened 52 new coal mines since coming to power in May 2014 to fuel its flagship village and household electrification programmes.”
Coal served 51 percent of power in the Midcontinent ISO, representing 15 Midwest states. Normally, coal provides about a third of the total power mix. “What that continues to show is we need energy diversity and fuel diversity for electricity,” Winberg said. “The imperative is to keep the grid reliable and resilient.”
It’s midday and Ocrazio-Cortez’s would-be Green New Deal is providing less than 0.8% of the PJM power mix (solar = 545 MW, wind = 432 MW).

Thank God for coal, gas and nukes. A pox on the Green New Deal and its advocates.
January 31. 8am. It’s bitterly cold in mid-Atlantic region. There is no wind. Coal is leading the way. Where would we be with the Green New Deal?
